Airport Transfers Transfers will be provided for passengers who have booked our Land +Air package. Group transfers on arrival at Frankfurt Airport will operate at 09:30 and 12:00. Return transfers from the last hotel will arrive at the Airport at 08:30. For passengers who book Trafalgar's Land only package and who choose to make their own flight arrangements, a transfer will be provided at a charge of $25 per person round trip. Your Travel Agent must provide Trafalgar accurate flight details no less than 21 days prior to tour departure and must arrange your flights to coincide with our specific arrival and departure transfer times. If however, you arrive outside the scheduled transfer times, then you must make your own alternative transfer arrangements at your own expense. | | | Day | Destination | Description | | Day 1 | Depart USA | Overnight flight to Frankfurt. | | Day 2 | Frankfurt | You will be met at Frankfurt airport and transferred to your hotel. An afternoon orientation of Germany's financial centre and Römerplatz is followed by a welcome drink with our Tour Director. (Dinner) | | Day 3 | Berlin | This morning we drive into Eastern Germany via Kassel, the Grimm brothers' home town. Then our journey takes us to historic Berlin for our two–night stay. (Buffet Breakfast) | | Day 4 | Berlin | Our morning sightseeing features a visit to the Checkpoint Charlie Museum and includes views of the Reichstag Building, Tiergarte, Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden Boulevard and the German State Opera House. The rest of the day is at leisure. (Buffet Breakfast) | | Day 5 | Warsaw | We journey first to the German border town of Frankfurt–an–der–Oder, then into Poland, stopping at Poznan, with its charming City Hall and Gothic churches. Later, we cross the central plains to the Polish capital, Warsaw. This evening, we enjoy dinner in a typical restaurant. (Buffet Breakfast/ Dinner) | | Day 6 | Warsaw | We experience a miracle of reconstruction and conservation. Our sightseeing tour reveals the historic centre where much of the Old Town was rebuilt after the war. Also we see the site of the Warsaw Ghetto, so shockingly evoked in Polanski's recent film 'The Pianist'! At leisure perhaps visit the Wilanow Palace, residence of Polish King Sobieski Victor of Vienna. This evening after dinner, why not treat yourself to a Chopin recital? (Buffet Breakfast/ Dinner) | | Day 7 | Krakow | This morning we drive to Czestochowa to visit the beautiful 14th century Paulite Monastery at Jasna Gora. This is the home of the portrait of Our Lady, the 'Black Madonna' thought to have been painted by St. Luke. Next, on a more sombre note, we visit the Concentration Camp at Auschwitz and its chilling reminders of the atrocities of World War II.Then on to medieval Krakow. This evening, why not enjoy a Polish Polka Party? (Buffet Breakfast) | | Day 8 | Krakow | Our morning sightseeing reveals the castle and Cathedral on Wawel Hill. Then enjoy a stroll through the medieval Old Town to visit the Cloth Hall and the Mariacki Church. Later, don't miss the chance to visit the astonishing Wieliczka salt mine. This evening, we will enjoy a speciality dinner accompanied by the music of violins. (Buffet Breakfast/ Restaurant dinner in Krakow) | | Day 9 | Budapest | A morning drive takes us into the foothills of the Tatra Mountains, and cross into Slovakia. Next we continue into Hungary to the capital Budapest. Tonight, we will enjoy a traditional Hungarian dinner with music. (Buffet Breakfast/ Restaurant dinner in Budapest) | | Day 10 | Budapest | Our sightseeing features the main sights of the twin cities, as are the Fishermen's Bastion with its views across the Danube to the Parliament and the Great Synagogue. The rest of the day is at leisure. Perhaps take a trip to Szentendre or a horse–drawn cab ride on St. Margaret Island. After dark, why not discover Eastern Europe's liveliest nightlife? (Buffet Breakfast) | | Day 11 | Vienna | We drive through the Transdanubia region, dotted with orchards and vineyards, to Gyor. Founded by the Romans, it has retained much of its medieval and baroque charm. Time for a stroll before we cross the Austrian border to Imperial Viennam for two nights. (Buffet Breakfast) | | Day 12 | Vienna | From the Opera to the Hofburg, the State Opera House to the Cathedral of St. Stephen, our sightseeing tour reveals this city's elegance. Tonight, why not head to one of the wine villages to dine at a lively 'heurige' inn? (Buffet breakfast) | | Day 13 | Prague | Today we travel to the town of Schrems and enter Southern Bohemia, driving past Trebon. Next, we visit Tabor, once the headquarters of the 15th century religious reformer, John Huss. Then we catch a glimpse of Konopiste Castle en route to the Czech capital, Prague – a lively hub of Art and Culture. (Buffet Breakfast/ Dinner) | | Day 14 | Prague | Our sightseeing tour reveals one of the most beautifully preserved cities in Europe. See Hradçany Castle, the Cathedral of St. Vitus and the Old Town Square, plus a visit to a Bohemian crystal factory. Later, time to visit one of the royal castles or enjoy a lunch cruise. (Buffet Breakfast/ Dinner) | | Day 15 | Frankfurt | Today's drive takes us through the Czech Republic to Pilsen – famous for its beer and Skoda factory. Then we head into western Germany and on to Nuremberg. Here we see the castle and its ramparts before returning to Frankfurt for our final night. Tonight, you may wish to enjoy dinner with your travelling companions in the old town?(Buffet Breakfast) | | Day 16 | Return USA | We transfer to the airport for our return flight to America.
